Apr 1, 2017 — Today marks the end of the exhibition of the competition entries in Scotland. We are no doubt approaching the announcement of the winner of the competition. The BIG PROBLEM IS: EVERY ONE OF THESE SCHEMES DESTROY VICTORIA TOWER GARDENS, A TOTALLY UNIQUE AND MUCH-LOVED LONDON PARK. This should not be allowed under any circumstances. Please take five minutes (maybe even less!) to let the organisers at the Holocaust Foundation know how strongly you feel that this should not happen (see link above), insisting that they should be going back to the drawing board to find another, more appropriate site.
We have recently heard that there is a site that was previously considered, in Russell Square, that would be perfect for the Memorial and Learning Centre; the memorial could be positioned in the Square gardens, and the Learning Centre accommodated in an adjacent empty site damaged by bombs during the War. There are many Jewish institutions nearby, and the area is already set up for mass tourism because of the British Museum. It is also near transport and trains.

The Imperial War Museum remains another very obvious alternative; we have also suggested College Green, opposite VTG, and a very touristy area at the top of St James' Park, off the Mall, where the learning centre could be located near the ICA.
You will be pleased to know that there is a lot of opposition against this scheme's location currently building amongst peers and MPS, also users of the park, so with a vested interest in making this not happen.

PLEASE do write in, it is important that the strength of our arguments continues to be brought to the attention of these very obstinate, inflexible organisers. These consultations are a total SHAM - there is absolutely no intention to listen to us!
