Wishing you all a very peaceful and happy 2017! In returning to our post-Xmas lives, we must not forget however that sadly London is still under constant attack from insensitive over-development of all kinds. This month, January, will see the conclusion of the international architectural competition set up to find the best architect for the construction of a new Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre. We very much hope that in the last few months the organising Committee has been listening to our very clear comments on their choice of site, and has been taking notice of our strong opposition to the desecration of one of London's most special parks, Victoria Tower Gardens. We now know that the Imperial War Museum was very keen to offered a home to new Centre; alternatively, the Save Victoria Tower Gardens Campaign has suggested a number of alternative strategies for finding a location more appropriate than the current one. In our opinion, it is only sheer laziness, coupled with political vanity, that explains the complacency of the choice of this specific choice of site. We need 500-1000 signatures. Please please do what you can to spread the word as much as possible...email your friends/neighbours/anyone who loves London and its unique parks!...and then check that they have signed the petition. This is important for the future of our great capital city, and for the future generation. Many thanks, your help is hugely appreciated. The photo below shows a recent unwelcome "temporary"??? building that already does much to damage the park....
