Since starting this petition in the summer of 2023, we have appealed to the Planning Appeals Commission. (PAC)

We are very thankful to the 3,000+ people who have already signed our petition backing us — showing just how important Unleashed is to the community.

Despite having strong support from yourselves, MLA’s, Councillors, local businesses, other dog parks and all our neighbours - bar two our appeal was unexpectedly dismissed!!

Why?

Because of “noise from the dog owners talking and laughing” 

In 4 years of operating we have had zero noise complaints. No objections from health & safety or road services. 

The PAC did agree with us on one big thing: The Council used the wrong planning policy.

Thanks to our case, all dog parks in NI will now be properly assessed as outdoor recreation spaces.

However now we need to submit a new planning application — and prove the park isn’t causing a noise problem.

To do that, we must hire an expert for a Noise Impact Assessment (£3,000), then reapply with proposed park improvements (£2,000).
