URGENT REMINDER: ACT NOW To Stop The Closure of Tyagarah Clothing-Optional beach on Friday August 30!

 

The closure of Tyagarah is still going ahead on Friday August 30.

 

And we are still asking the Minister responsible to intervene and stop this injustice.

Dear Minister Sharpe,

 

I’m one of the 8000 people who signed a petition in favour of Tyagarah Clothing-Optional Beach, near Byron Bay.

 

This is a cherished community asset and we ask to you intervene to stop its closure on August 30.

 

The decision by NPWS lacked procedural fairness and was not evidence-based. A NPWS workshop in March was supposed to facilitate a transition to a new location but this was a halfhearted, perfunctory exercise that erroneously concluded that no other beaches were suitable.   

 

I request that you review and reverse the NPWS decision. If you uphold the NPWS decision, then I request that you keep the beach open until an alternate location is in place.  

 

We ask you to support the famous Byron (and Australian) values of acceptance, diversity, and freedom.
