K here,
I can't believe the incredible amount of support that this petition has received. I posted this less than 6 hours ago and we're already past 1,000 signatures--an absolutely huge milestone! I want to thank you all for signing and sharing this petition; let it be known that the students of WTAMU are not giving up on this fight. So many people have offered their support via e-mail and Instagram messages and I want to give a big shout-out to those of you who have contacted me or left a comment on this petition, as well as other students on campus and those off-campus who are working with the protesters.
This fight is not over. WTAMU students have made plans to host protests throughout the rest of this week until something is changed. Plans have also been made to e-mail Dr. Wendler about his actions, and I will be e-mailing him tomorrow to present this petition to him. This act of discrimination and blatant violation of school policy will not go unnoticed. People are allowed to have their own personal beliefs, but when those beliefs cause an individual to infringe on the rights of others, it is truly unacceptable.
Stay tuned for more updates regarding this situation, and please continue to share this petition. The student body deserves to have its voice heard, and we need all the help we can get. If you would like to help with your dollar, please donate to the Trevor Project.
Much love,
K Klein
