This year the Center for Biological Diversity won lifesaving Endangered Species Act protection for 45 species, from California spotted owls and cactus ferruginous pygmy owls to pond turtles and mussels called Cumberland moccasinshells.
Since we were founded, the Center has achieved Endangered Species Act protection for 758 species and over half a billion acres of protected critical habitat.
We also got 3.8 million acres of critical habitat declared — for nearly four dozen species.
We secured a national recovery plan for gray wolves and took legal action to keep them safe in Oregon and Washington state.
After a decades-long fight, we won Endangered Species Act protection for wolverines.
In the year ahead, we'll keep fighting for species large and small. And we'll protect the oceans, rivers, deserts, mountains, plains and forests that allow them to survive.
