Thank you for signing the petition to Save the West Groton Pond. Will you share our petition with your friends and family? We need to rally as much support as possible. 

It seems that many from the powers that be in the town of Groton are still hell bent on ripping out the historic West Groton Dam- and the destruction of the beautiful West Groton pond and the adjacent deep arm of the Squannacook River that runs up to H&V.

Goodbye to the beavers, minks, great blue herons and all the other creatures who have called the pond and impoundment their home for the last 300 years. Goodbye to this recreational and aesthetic treasure beloved by all in West Groton, Shirley, and the surrounding areas for as long.

Boating, fishing, swimming and ice skating and ice fishing on the pond will be but a memory.

Where there is now a pond- will be a steep 20 foot drop along Townsend Rd. in West Groton Center to an unseemly swamp for mosquitos to breed. And where there is now a river- will be but a polluted stream.
