The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating controversial Postmaster General Louis DeJoy in connection with campaign contributions made by former employees of the longtime businessman, a spokesman of DeJoy's confirmed Thursday.

Mark Corallo, the spokesman, said in a statement that the department is probing "contributions made by employees who worked for him when he was in the private sector."

DeJoy had been a Republican megadonor before he was appointed to lead the U.S. Postal Service during the Trump administration.

Louis DeJoy, unsurprisingly, is under investigation by the FBI.

And I'll paste my update from yesterday as it's still relevant.

JUN 2, 2021 — Recently Kimberly Karol, President of the Iowa Postal Workers Union, was on Rachel Maddow discussing how Louis DeJoy is planning to slow down the mail by changing policy like no longer using planes for first class mail:

"The plan also prevents first-class mail from being shipped by airplane, said the two people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss confidential conversations, forcing all of it into trucks and a relay of distribution depots."

3. Email the Postal Service directly to stop the rules from being amended at PCFederalRegister@usps.gov with subject line: Service Standards for Market Dominant Mail Products.  ✔
