With the November election around the corner and COVID-19 still not under control in the U.S, vote-by-mail has become a hot button political issue. Especially with the need to socially distance to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

Many states have been voting by mail for years. Republicans, led by President Abraham Lincoln, were the first to allow about 150,000 soldiers vote absentee in the 1864 presidential election.
