Looking back it's been a strange, but eventful year. The twisting and scrambling to justify the utterly irrational episode that took place last year led to one bizarre episode after another.
The announcement that the Museum Building would be demolished and a new one would be created at a cost, including the new research and collections building, to be around a billion dollars led to a huge public outcry, especially when the Province blanked out the capital costs after the public demanded a business plan. The premier was forced to back down and he announced soon after that he would step down as party leader.
Now the NDP will soon have a new leader David Eby. Will he go down a similar path, driven seemingly more by development interests than the interests of preserving history and maintaining a balanced budget?
We will see. Until then the RBCM still languishes in dysfunction at the cost to the tax paying public of millions of dollars each year that could have gone to other desperately needed functions, without the third floor and history galleries open.
Enough is enough of the charade. We demand a timeline for the full restoration and reopening of the Third Floor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
