600 Strong!

We thought you'd like to know that as of this morning we have received 623 signatures in only 5 days! Thanks to everyone who made that happen! We've also shared this info with the creators of the Totem Pole; Richard Gosnel, Andy Ramsz, Clair Weirsma and Eric Stang...and they very much appreciate your support. We are preparing our joint presentation to the LKDSB Transition Committee and we'll have further details on that as we get closer to the April 16th date. If you still live in Chatham-Kent, please "save the date" on your calendar as we'd love to see you there too! We are still gathering signatures so please continue to share the link to the petition with your Facebook friends or via email. Finally, we leave you with some inspiring words from Leo Girard, teacher and mentor (TSS 1967-87): "Tecumseh was a very special place in my teaching career. For me the Totem Pole...and the four men who created it embodied the spirit and heart of the "Golden Age of TSS". A superintendent asked me at the time "Leo, do you know what we have here?" "I'm not sure"....I said. Broadly smiling he fired back "A HAPPY SCHOOL!", with plenty of spirit, heart, enthusiasm, and self-motivation. The Totem Pole represents all of that. I strongly hope it will live on."
