Petition updateSave the South Bank from the private Garden Bridge developmentJoin us: Tuesday 15th December - Lambeth Planning Applications Committee meeting
w-k cheungLondon, United Kingdom
Dec 13, 2015
The Garden Bridge 'Trust' needs to discharge several planning conditions before construction can begin and we intend to persuade Lambeth councillors that this private development is unwanted, unnecessary and a waste of public money.
Please come and support us at the Karibu Education Centre, 7 Gresham Road, Brixton, London SW9 7PH. The meeting starts at 7pm but arrive early so that we can be seen and heard.
Don't forget to keep spreading the word about the petition and write to Lambeth council's leader Lib Peck lpeck@lambeth.gov.uk with your concerns e.g. the overcrowding, destruction of treasured views, burden to the public purse, undemocratic and corrupt way the whole project has come about - or all of the above.
Lib Peck could've stopped the project dead but she allowed the Garden Bridge Trust's group of multi-millionaire chums to proceed with squandering public funds disguised as a sham 'loan'. Details can be found on our website www.tcos.org.uk or in the previous update.
Coin Street Community Builders could similarly stop the project by refusing to allow a variation of their lease of the South Bank land that is need by the Garden Bridge Trust to develop upon. Write and tell the Chief Executive Iain Tuckett i.tuckett@coinstreet.org not to allow this to happen and to preserve our open space for use by the public 24/7, 365 days a year in perpetuity, as it has always been intended.
Contact future decision makers for London: Sadiq Khan london@labour.org.uk and Zac Goldsmith zac@zacgoldsmith.com and write to your MP to tell them what a disgrace it is for public funding to be ploughed into this private vanity project when central government cuts are being made everywhere else.
And please continue to support our fundraising for if/when we challenge them in the High Court: www.everyclick.com/tcos
