Coles doesn't see value in protecting bowerbirds
Oct 31, 2018 —
Coles replied to my email about requesting a discussion re the problem of blue plastic rings and how to reduce the impact on wildlife. Their customer service officer Gemma rang me - she was lovely and very patient while I had a frustrated rant. I ranted because Coles flat out refused to discuss any change to their product packaging.
It's strange that Coles are resistant to change when their blue lid branding is the same as Woolworths and other milk suppliers - it doesn't set them apart. Knowing that coloured lids also make recycling more difficult, it's strange that Coles says on its website... At Coles we take our responsibility for managing our environmental and social impacts seriously. We also know this is an important consideration for our customers, suppliers and team members. We are continually looking for opportunities to make a positive difference with a focus on waste and recycling, resource efficiency and responsible and ethical sourcing.
I ask you, what does that statement actually mean? Does it mean nothing? We have presented them with a perfect opportunity to make a positive difference! I know for a fact Coles customers and team members are signing this petition! If you have a moment to spare please let Coles know how you feel! Many thanks for your support!
