WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE THEN?
The 'Ruddy Duck' eradication programme

The non-native 'Ruddy Duck' became established in the UK in the 1960's following escapees and releases. During the 1970's and 1980's it spread throughout the UK and was seen in increasing frequency. Hybridisation with the endangered 'White-headed Duck' was regarded as the greatest threat to the long term survival of the latter species. A programme aiming to to protect the 'White-headed Duck' by eradicating 'Ruddy Ducks' from the UK began in 2005. Over 6,200 'Ruddy Ducks' were culled at over 110 sites across England, Scotland and Wales, under this programme. The recorded data suggest that by the winter of 2008/9 the UK population had been reduced by 90%.
We have no recorded detail of the present numbers in the UK.
It is called 'Control that created a balance in nature' , one duck against another
The 'Goosander' is also a non-native species and its presence in the UK since its protection in 1981 has and is now out of control and causing serious and direct effect on the Salmonid and other fish species in our Rivers, Lakes, Canals and is regarded as the greatest threat to the long term survival of our fish. An urgent UK eradication programme is required to protect the future of these fish.
We have been bringing this to the attention of the Powers in Being, since before 2000 and are continuing to do so in 2023 ? why is it falling on deaf ears ?.
It is called 'Control that would create a balance in nature', a fish eating duck, against the fish Salmonids and other Fish are also important.
“The wildlife of today is not ours to dispose of as we please. We have it in trust. We must account for it to those who come after us” King George V1.
The 'Cormorant' predation situation throughout the UK is also out of control and these need eradicating together with the 'Goosanders' to re-create that balance in nature which existed pre 1981, and now due to the demise in fish stocks, in order that the food source of our native 'Heron's and Kingfishers' is protected into their long term future also.
EVALUATION:
'Ruddy Duck' non native species, through hybridisation will effect the long term survival of the 'White-headed Duck'.
'Goosander' and 'Cormorant' within a 'Licensing Scheme' leaned, in favour of protecting the 'Goosander and Cormorant' population. 'Avian Predation' against fish population.
Long term survival of the 'White headed Duck' was sorted against the long term survival of the fish having been left in abeyance for a number of years now, it is a a situation that beggars belief. One is a bird the other a fish, but what is missing here is that they are very important fish, some of which is the food source of our native Heron's and Kingfishers and also the juvenile stock of the future of our 'Rod Angling Businesses' together with its economical values, throughout Wales and the whole of the UK. The Powers in being need to urgently fulfil their obligations and create this eradication programme to regain control. The 'Angling Fraternity' are ready and waiting, to help deliver this.

This week's update picture was sent to me by a supporter of the campaign and shows over '50 Cormorants, last week on a roost on the 'Little Orme', a stone throw away from the 'River Conway' in North Wales. and there are very many more throughout the Country. Reported figures state that there are 65,000 in the UK. Do you wonder where our fish are disappearing to?. Marry this up to the update picture from the 28th October, to see what kind of damage this lot will do, in one day, and into the future, I will leave the maths to you.
Thank you for your support.
