After returning back to campus from Thanksgiving Break, we were informed that due to student concerns, the library will be go back to its 24/7 schedule. We could not have accomplished this without the signatures and support of the UM students, family members, staff, and anyone who signed this petition. While I am overjoyed that the 24/7 schedule will resume, I would just like to highlight the fact that the University still has refused to comment about adjusting the library budget. This petition was not only to bring the library finals schedule back, but to also bring to light the extreme budget cuts the library is facing and the university's blatant disregard for student academics. The library is a fundamental element of all education systems, and for a "top research" university to take away these resources is unacceptable. I hope that this victory reminds the university what their priorities should be, and sets that precedent that they cannot take these things away from us without rebuttal.
