Dear Friends of Red Balloon Preschool:
We hope you are all doing well! We are just writing with a few updates about our lease situation with Columbia, as well as some reminders.
First, please take a moment to read and share Anne's (mother of Adonise, BR) piece in the Spectator, regarding the importance of Red Balloon to her as a Black mother. Her piece is moving and beautiful, and gives Anne's perspective as a mom of child with special medical needs: https://www.columbiaspectator.com/opinion/2023/03/07/red-balloon-is-the-only-preschool-that-accepted-my-sons-disability-now-columbia-is-shutting-its-doors/
We are currently seriously looking at two new spaces and have asked Columbia to provide necessary funds for relocation expenses, but we have yet to hear back from them. We have started an online fundraising campaign to help the school in this regard. Please consider a donation, and kindly share the link with others who may similarly be moved to help our school: https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-the-red-balloon
In addition, there will be a community rally led by Columbia students regarding Columbia's actions against our school on Thursday evening at 6pm on the Columbia campus. Please come if you can--details are in the flyer, attached.
Please accept our deep gratitude for all of those who care about our little school, and our fight to serve our community.
Sincerely,
The Red Balloon Parent Board
