Our signature tally has doubled in the last week. Thank you! It is imperative that we get the total up to 2000 in the next week in order to demonstrate significant community support. If each of us gets 3 signatures we will reach our goal in time for the Beaufort County Council Meeting on March 13 at 3:00.
Please share your interest in this effort with family, friends, and neighbors along with the links to the petition and the Facebook group at the bottom of this post.
In addition to the preservation of the 2013 Heritage Live Oak there are a host of benefits a Passive Park will bring to our community. These include access to nature, water views, and the preservation of dozens of landmark and specimen trees.
Trees and open lands mitigate heat, promote good drainage, improve air quality, promote mental and physical health, beautify our community, create a sense of place and heritage, enhance property values, promote healthy waterways, and provide wildlife habitat.
If you are as passionate as I am please compose an email to your contact list and share why this project is important to you and future generations. Don't forget to include the links!
Gratefully yours,
Hope Cunningham
