A note from a Researcher of Turtle Bay

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for signing and sharing this petition to save the beautiful marine sanctuary called Turtle bay in Palawan. I will be turning 96, this Sept. 5th! I fought as a pilot for the Philippine Airforce in WWII, and I did not do so for it to be taken over by corporate greed a the expense of the environment. I received an email from a person who did research in Turtle bay a couple of years back, and this is what he had to say about the ocean park. "It is great to see that otters live in turtle bay. Although, it has been several years since I did the research. I know turtle bay is an important spawning ground for many fish species. Therefore, turtle bay is an essential element for sustaining livelihoods that depend on fishery. The local government should in my opinion take this into account. I also know that in an official document the Municipality of Puerto Princesa stated that only eco-tourism should be allowed in the bay. The ocean park of course does not classify as eco-tourism!
