The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking threatened status for a rare plant along the Oregon and Northern California coast.

The federal agency seeks to protect Sand Dune Phacelia under the Endangered Species Act. Just 26 populations of this rare plant remain in the coastal dunes of southern Oregon and northern California.

This story is from the Cannon Beach Gazette - where the city approved a sand dune management plan that REQUIRES the planting of the invasive European Beachgrass.
