Oregon officials need to hear that it’s time to join other states and ban the planting of the invasive European Beachgrass.

Listed as a “weed” by the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Oregon still allows it to flourish on the coast - creating sand dunes where none existed and altering sand dynamics where dunes do exist. Worse than doing nothing, the city of Cannon Beach ignored a scientific report that outlined the problems created by the beachgrass and recommendations to address the problems. Then the City Council voted to REQUIRE the planting of European Beachgrass along its shore.

This must stop!
