It is with heavy hearts that we share this update.
Despite the incredible support from our community, Nuffield Health has decided to close the Milton Keynes crèche. We were notified only yesterday (30/06/26). The Creche closes on Sunday (05/07/26). With very little notice and so soon to the summer holidays.
While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we wanted to thank every single person who signed our petition, shared it with others, and stood alongside us in trying to protect such a valuable service.
We are so sorry that we didn’t succeed.
What hurts most is not just the closure itself, but the missed opportunity. We weren't simply asking Nuffield Health to keep the crèche open regardless of the circumstances—we were asking them to work with us. If profitability was the concern, we were ready to help explore solutions, promote the service, and find ways to make it sustainable for everyone. We believe there was another path, but sadly, that conversation never happened.
This decision has left many families devastated. For parents, the crèche was far more than a convenience; it allowed them to prioritise their health and wellbeing, knowing their children were safe, happy, and cared for. For many, it made attending the gym possible at all.
The closure has also had a significant impact on the wider gym staff. Many have built strong relationships with the families who used the crèche and understand the important role it played in helping members access the facilities. This decision has affected not only the families who relied on the service but also the staff who genuinely cared about the community they helped to create every day.
Although this petition has not changed the final decision, it has shown something incredibly important: this crèche mattered. The overwhelming support, the messages we've received, and the stories people have shared demonstrate just how valued this service was within our community.
We hope Nuffield Health reflects on the strength of feeling shown by its members and staff and recognises the importance of involving the very people affected when making decisions like these. Collaboration could have created possibilities instead of closure.
This may be the end of our petition, but it should not be the end of the conversation about how organisations can better support the families and communities they serve. We hope that, in the future, decisions like this are made with meaningful engagement, openness, and a willingness to explore solutions before closing the door on services that have such a positive impact on people's lives.
