Thankyou again to everyone for supporting the National concert hall of Wales. 

Thanks to intervention from Councillor Catriona Brown-Reckless alongside threats to be removed from the meeting by Scrutiny chair Peter Wong for releasing said confidential information, I can now release the following formerly confidential information to you all. 

Live Nation/AMG will be paying £23 million pounds for the lease of St Davids Hall. The also happens to be the amount the council personally are putting towards the new Cardiff bay arena- make of this what you will. 

It was also released during the scrutiny meeting that the council will also be paying for some capital investment into the building after the lease has been signed- nullifying the argument that the council will not have to pay for any maintenance in St Davids Hall.

They “held back information” in the initial press release regarding the approach until we released the FOI to Wales Online. They have changed their tune; and since challenging the amount needed to be spent on the hall the figure of £55 million has disappeared. 

The Arts council has also confirmed Cardiff Council has not approached them for funding in order to continue the operation of St Davids Hall in public hands.
