Library Update from Today’s City Council Retreat

I attended this morning's Moses Lake City Council retreat, at the Grant county fair grounds. The very first item on the agenda was the library building.

Here’s what’s concerning:
The City Council couldn’t answer basic questions.
They didn’t seem to know what repairs are actually needed to the building.
They weren’t clear on the terms of their agreement with the library.
And several admitted they haven’t stepped foot in the library in years.

Still, here’s where things currently stand:

The discussion has been tabled for now.

They’re postponing a decision until they:

1. Meet with the Library Board one-on-one to get the facts.

2. Conduct a full building assessment to determine repair needs.

The good news? They’re listening. They’ve said they don’t want to lose the library. But words aren’t enough—we need follow-through. And that’s where we come in.

This is not the time to go quiet.

We must keep the pressure on and hold our city leaders accountable to their promises.

One important note:
There’s been misinformation floating around about “private conversations” with council members. It was stated today in the meeting— by every single board member present, (Lombardi was absent)  that they have not had  off-the-record talks about the library.

So please:
👉 Stick to public, verifiable information.
👉 Don’t pass along rumors or hearsay—it weakens our movement.

Let’s stay focused. Stay united. Stay LOUD.

Keep signing the petition.
