Drone footage of the intersection of Via Senda...Modoc Road...& Las Palmas Dr...near the entrance to the historic Hope Ranch arch...shows the narrow strip of trees that will be unnecessarily destroyed by the Modoc Road Multi-Use Path (MUP).

Every square inch of this greenbelt's shade canopy and wildlife habitat at the edge of the urban creep of Eastern Goleta Valley and Santa Barbara is vitally important to preserve.

Santa Barbara County could simply build the path on the existing asphalt infrastructure instead of adding to urban creep into a protected nature preserve and greenbelt at the edge of a concrete jungle.

CAMP (Community Association for the Modoc Preserve) is suing Santa Barbara County and the SB County Board of Supervisors for violating California state laws governing environmental review under the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

CAMP challenges the county’s failure to conduct complete and accurate environmental review, prepare an Environmental Impact Report, as well as other procedural and substantive violations of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in approving the Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND).

Our goal is to keep this ecologically valuable open space from encroaching urban development. Please contribute to the Modoc Preserve Legal Fund to continue to help save these 100+ year old iconic, and historic, heritage trees before it's too late. Everything helps!

*PLEASE NOTE ANY LEFTOVER FUNDS DONATED TO THE LEGAL DEFENSE FUND TO HELP PROTECT THE MODOC TREES AND THE PRESERVE LAND WILL BE DONATED TO THE LAND TRUST FOR SANTA BARBARA COUNTY IN NAME OF THE MODOC PRESERVE.*
