Thank you...thank you...thank you!!!
Thanks to you, our 2770 petition supporters...and, many other CAMP (Community Association for the Modoc Preserve) volunteers and kitchen cabinet members, and NextDoor neighbors...our grassroots activism and hard work has helped to achieve this breakthrough!
“It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.” --Mark Twain
This fight is not over...but, the trees, the critters, and this land, breathe a sigh of relief today...:-)
From:
Lael Wageneck : Public Information Officer Santa Barbara County Public Works
"Good afternoon,
At the request of the Second District Supervisor's Office and following the substantial amount of work that went into updating the preliminary plans, a new draft MND will be published in September 2022. There will be an additional 30-day public comment period, and the updated MND will be considered by the County Board of Supervisors in November. The County is committed to minimizing the removal of trees. For updated information on the project, visit https://www.countyofsb.org/modocmup. How much do these trees, the wildlife, and the land that this public nature preserve is on, mean to you?
If ALL 2770 of us petition supporters chipped in only $10 each...we would have enough money in our Modoc Road Trees Legal Fund to fight this battle all the way through the court system!
You can also CONTACT US to send personal checks...as many of you feel more comfortable doing it old school...
