Morgan Coffey's quote from the petition comments sums this Modoc Preserve open space fight up in a nutshell...

"We mustn't set precedent for demolishing open space that was lawfully established for present and future generations!"

It’s a slippery slope dealing with politicians!

The County Public Works department and Gregg Hart are trying to force us to choose between Alignments Bad and Awful.  The Modoc Bike Path as currently proposed will DESTROY the Modoc Preserve. Threatening to mow down 63 Modoc Road Trees along the County Right of Way (Alignment Awful) if we don’t give them the easements (Alignment Bad) is NOT cool.

Dirty tactics are eroding the public’s confidence in the Santa Barbara Land Trust and its ability to protect and preserve land, in the LCMWC’s shareholders desire and ability to conserve private land for public use, and in our collective ability to preserve and protect an Urban Forest that is home to at least 71 species of birds, as well as mammals, amphibians and wildlife who live in this sensitive riparian corridor.

Please email Gregg Hart and the Board of Supervisors (BOS) to tell them Vote NO on Modoc Path - Phase 2, we don’t want Alignments A or B! 

Tell them to go back to the drawing board and give this protected nature preserve the time and thought that it deserves...

Otherwise, we (over 2500 of us) will remember to vote NO when Gregg Hart runs for California State Assembly District 37 in November!
