As healthcare professionals, we feel responsible to advocate for these people and highlight that their health conditions deteriorate by every passing minute. More specifically, lack of access to proper medical care could be life-threatening for these people due to the nature and the severity of their health conditions. Patients who suffer from diseases like inflammatory bowel disease, sclerosing cholangitis, or other autoimmune diseases are currently in overcrowded prison cells. Patients with cancer on chemotherapy medications are being held in detention centres with no enough ventilation and no healthy foods.  Medications these type of patients using are making them very susceptible for infection. Any type of infection will cost their lives.

We act on their behalf to be their voices. These are not criminal people! These are protesters who need to be at home in a clean environment to take care of their sicknesses. Don’t forget the Islamic Republic killed Baktash Abtin by keeping him from medical attention during covid. Don’t let it happen again!
