Hello everyone and thank you so much for supporting this very important issue!  You are all amazing!  Let's keep sharing and keep the signatures coming.  The koalas need us!

Big news this week!  My incredible teacher, Mrs Rebecca Miller from Byron Bay Public School, saw a wonderful opportunity to embrace this current news topic and environmental issue.  She set a task for my passionate classmates to write a persuasive letter to the Environment and Forestry ministers to stop the logging in Braemar State Forest and save the koalas who call it home.  Not only is my class doing this, but the entire year 6 group!  That's 90 kids!  What a great way to show children that we are an important part of the community and our voices do matter.  Please hear our message Penny Sharpe (Minister for Environment) and Tara Moriarty (Minister of Forestry).  You have the power to make big changes for our endangered species.

More big news!  Our wonderful local newspaper, the Echo, visited our school and here is my class holding their letters to the ministers! (see photo above). The Echo put us on page 3 with our story and invited their readers to sign this petition.  Thank you to those who took the time to read and sign.  You are all legends!  And a special BIG thank you to the Echo.  I really appreciate your ongoing support of the koalas, environmental issues and helping us keep up to date with what is going on.  We need independent reporting on these important topics.  You are the cornerstone of our community.

We are only 18 signatures from hitting 500!  Please keep sharing and caring.

Leila, Chaska and the koalas :)
