If this is truly a community-led vision, then we should be clear about which community is being referenced. Too often, planning decisions reflect very different ideas of who is actually being served and those visions tend to follow the money.

This hump has real value, if only for the sweeping view of the entire town. People love driving over it for that vista alone. It’s iconic: a historical landmark that speaks to a different era, a tangible link to the town’s past and its time as a thriving railroad hub.

It seems the real goal is to remove it to make way for dense housing development instead?
