Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign to try to keep the Early Learning Campus opened and operated by the University of Louisville.

Despite the amazing community responses and the delivery of the petition in person with parents and their children, the UofL administration denied any requests to keep operating the ELC.

It takes years to build something like the Early Learning Campus. And sadly with one email announcement, UofL decided to destroy it.

The Ohio Valley Education Cooperative will take over management of the ELC starting July 1, 2026 this week, continuing to serve the Family Scholar House residents. But the Reggio Emilia curriculum and access to the ELC for UofL employees, students, and Old Louisville residents, will end. Given wait times and higher costs, some families still have not found a new pre-K education home for their children.

As the ELC as we know it comes to an end, some parents and children shared what the ELC meant to them in the link below.  We thank you and the amazing teachers & staff of the ELC for the education & care they gave our families.
