Good Monday Morning:

According to Charlotte City Council staff the Rea Road Gillespie Rezoning request has been withdrawn from the December 18th Charlotte City Council meeting.

Accordingly, we expect the rezoning request to reappear on the January 2024 Zoning Committee and Charlotte City Council docket.

While this clearly is political gamesmanship by the developer it is also a wonderful opportunity to further strengthen our opposition.

Over the past few months members of our collation have been working with several conservation and wildlife organizations seeking their assistance and support. You may have seen some of their efforts and perhaps even read their supporting letters written to Charlotte City Council members.

We would like to ask additional Conservation Groups to join our cause.  Should you know of anyone that we should reach out to please let us know and we will contact them immediately.

Now some fun news from one of our Piper Glen residents:

Eagles Glen and Piper have been busy doing some serious nest remodeling. They have become very active and are now seldom apart or far from the nest tree.

As of last Wednesday, we have not seen signs of mating or egg laying. At this point we assume that Piper is about three or four weeks away from laying eggs.  The "Egg Watch" continues.

However, eagle cousins down in Florida are well ahead of the game and currently taking turns tending to eggs in Southwest Florida, where eagles normally lay their eggs in November or December.

And in case you have an interest, the North Fort Myers Eagles have a webcam a sort of a free "OnlyFans" for eagles. Be warned they do tend to overshare! Viewer discretion is advised. North Fort Myers Eagle Webcam.

Thank You for your continued support.
