Two days ago there was a massacre at Chicago Animal Control. Morgan was among them. Playful, wiggly girl, we’ve lost you. The massacre occurred right after Chicago ACC announced its brilliant new plan to join forces with PAWS CHICAGO, the largest no kill shelter in the Midwest. We hope it’s brilliant. We hope things change for the dogs and cats, the bunnies and hamsters.
Things that are not changing: Sue Cappello remains Acting Executive Director. Dogs are being killed without warning. The need for new leadership is greater than ever. Lots and lots of dogs are dying.

“Today was extra hard.
The dogs in this reel are with us….Today. 
The dogs in this reel need us to continue to show up
But last night we lost really really great dogs.
We lost dogs we loved.
We lost dogs we didn’t even think were at risk.
We woke up today & learned there would be different dogs in their kennels when we got to the shelter.
This Week has been extra hard.
Every week is feeling harder than the week before it.
It's called Compounded Grief.
It's called Complicated Grief.
It's called Compassion Fatigue.
We are so sad today that we don't even see the point in making this post right now.
But we also don't want to be yet another person who's abandoning these abandoned faces.
If we stop showing up, if we stop posting...They will have no one. They will disappear without people ever knowing they existed. So, this is the least we owe them.
We aren't looking for pity. We just want to share that we are really struggling.
The only thing we are looking for is: CHANGE.
