“This video is Unavailable”  pops up on the link for a video of Ashanti, a very sweet, affectionate and playful three year old girl who had found her way back to CACC and was a “Volunteer Favorite,” for her joyful demeanor.  And then we learned that last Sunday, April 3, 2023, that beloved dog was euthanized in the evening with many other dogs, some similar to her!

The euthanasia rates are off the charts. In March 2023 alone, 180 dogs were euthanized, that’s almost 40 more than the month before. That’s 45 dogs per week that lost their life.  We can’t allow this any longer. If you’re interested in helping please write to Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson  in any way that is most efficient for you and tell him, politely, that the rising number of dogs being euthanized at CACC is alarming and that they need a complete overhaul of staff at all levels as well as a higher budget!  If you’d like to let us know what you said and where, please do so!  Thank you all!
