They said it couldn't be done, but we're doing it!
Over the past nine months, the Century and Consumers Buildings have gone from a 'lost cause' to a 'possible win.'
This Century and Consumers petition has generated over 23k signatures, including 492 pages of signatures and 40 page of comments.
The B1M video has received over 1 MILLION views.
There have been dozens of articles across Chicago’s press and media. Incredibly, the Chicago Sun-Times has written THREE editorials, all pro-preservation.
Nearly all Chicago elected officials now oppose demolition.
The City of Chicago considered Landmarking the Century and Consumers Buildings and then paused just before the vote to make their position known to the feds.
We also helped to generate an innovative adaptive reuse proposal that would activate the buildings and address all the security issues. The Chicago Collaborative Archive Center plan had a large press conference in May and the details of this innovative plan are now widely known.
At the first Section 106 hearings in November, there was UNIVERSAL public opposition to demolition.
