We just found out from Dr. O that she has been tapped by National Geographic Live to turn the class that she developed at the University of Houston, "Before Cowboy Carter: Black Towns, Black Freedom", into a new Masterclass Experience titled "Black Cowboys in the West: The Rise of a New American Story" for National Geographic Live and Speakers Bureau audiences around the world. According to her instagram, this means that what was once a classroom experience developed for a small number of students here at UH will now be a live show featured across many different college campuses. This is so exciting and a great way to declare a victory as we close this petition. While we were not able to convince UH to keep the course in rotation for us, we are excited to see both the class and this amazing professor take flight beyond the walls of our one campus and we hope to be in attendance for at least one live show. Thank you to all who contributed to this petition and who made this course so successful that it rose to the attention of Nat Geo.
