Patterson Farm Preservation, Inc. has put forth a plan for Patterson Agriculture and Heritage Center, for Lower Makefield, Supervisors to consider. (See excerpt).
Our plan pays homage to farmers Thomas & Alice Patterson and advocates expansion of the Agricultural Lands Preservation easement to include the unprotected 38 acres of Patterson Farm in Bucks County, PA that remain vulnerable to non-agricultural conversion.
The expansion of the agricultural lands preservation easement has the potential to net up to $456,000 in preservation funds to invest in Patterson Farm and “sow the seeds” of Patterson Agriculture and Heritage Center. The “Ag Center” will teach future generations of agriculturists, as well as offering informative small-scale programs to the public, allowing farming, and life in the neighborhood around the farm to continue without disruption. We will enthusiastically fundraise and support the preservation of Bucks County’s fascinating history, beautiful natural wildlife habitat and life-sustaining agriculture in our community.
We are excited about the possibility of FULLY preserving our community farm and making a lasting contribution to food security, present and future. We recognize we are not the last generation who will depend upon Patterson Farms’ abundance to sustain life. Please join us in good stewardship.
