Voters in Bucks County, PA supported a ballot referendum for preservation when historic Patterson Farm was acquired by Lower Makefield Township in 1998. Now it's time for elected officials to make good on the promise of preservation by protecting all of our landmark farm with a protective deed restriction.
Several acres of the formerly 234-acre farm have been lost to development of an interstate exit. Members of the public continuously advocated for and obtained a Farmland Preservation easement on nearly 100 acres of precious land, but it took nearly two decades of persistent advocacy before previous Boards of Supervisors to obtain that awesome achievement!
Today, about 38 acres of Patterson Farm remain unprotected and vulnerable to conversion. That unprotected acreage contains all the farm's historic structures, as well as wetlands and crop fields. Government ownership does not guarantee preservation. A protective easement will provide the desired assurance that Patterson Farm will continue to serve the community for generations to come.
Your signature reminds the Board of Supervisors of Lower Makefield Township that our beloved Patterson Farm is important as a local food source, historic site & natural habitat, and is worthy of protection. Thank you for your support and donations. Please share this petition.
