Hello Everyone,

211 days since we rang in the new year, I don’t think any of us could have predicted what was in store, the universe has been throwing us curve ball, after curve ball.  But here we are resilient, and ready to withstand the storm.   I hope that you and your families are all doing well, staying healthy and adapting to the new normal.

You can already guess, if you are seeing an update from me….it is because more is happening on the Aucoin Farm Front. Sadly, this was one curve ball that we could predict, it was just a matter of time.  While I know it is a difficult time for all of us, I hope that everyone is able to continue to support the Aucoin family.

On July 29, 2020  - Gerard Aucoin was served a statement of claim by Millbrook Development (docket number 201904G0208), Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, General Division. Gerard is identified as the sixth defendant after the Town of Kippens, the mayor, and three councillors.

Note: That the town council is made up of seven (7) elected members , and is structured with a Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and five councillors (http://www.kippens.ca/home/Kippens-Town-Council.html .

I hope that you too are now scratching your head wondering why not all council members have been included.   For one member, I know it would be difficult as he represents Millbrook Development (evidence in September 2019 – Western Appeal Division Docket, previously shared).

If you were experiencing this by your elected official...would you not want the support of your community?

Back on point, Gerard has ten (10) days to file his defense.  While there are six defendants, the Town and the elected members are represented by the towns lawyer; it is required that the Aucoin family obtain their own representative. This is imperative to ensure procedural fairness, and fair representation for the Aucoin family.  It is for this reason that the family go-fund me will be reinstated.   The  purpose of the campaign is to cover retainer, legal fees,  additional costs and any other expenses incurred by the Aucoin family in their continuous plea to maintain their way of life.

While I know this is a difficult time for everyone, a little can go a long way, so even $2 from all supporters would be a huge benefit to this family.  TOGETHER we can achieve more, and together we will stand (socially distant of course) to ensure indigenous way of life, and residents rights  are protected. This is your chance to be on the side of humanity, and justice.....show your integrity, values and ethics.

"We both love the Farm, our lifestyle, and the animals (which are like pets to us). Gerard is a very humble, honest, hardworking man who is living his dream. We live very private lives and do not like conflict or media attention, yet we find ourselves in the midst of it. We would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to all who have stood behind our cause during this most difficult time. We will be forever grateful. Thank you so much".  Cora  & Gerard Aucoin

In advance, thank you for standing for humanity, justice and indigenous rights.  We appreciate it, and are thankful for your support.

Keep washing your hands, stay safe, and thank you. Stay tuned for more information when the Go Fund me is activated.
