Save the Arts from Generative AI petition update and request 10/8/26
Hi all, we’ve reached 407 signatures on this petition—thank you so much for your support!
Since its inception, David Barber's motivating article was picked up by The Hollywood Reporter:
The word is spreading!
Many great things are happening to protect the arts and artists from prompt driven generative AI!
"Apple Music to Label AI-Made Tracks Later This Year" and "AI-generated music will not be monetizable" on Tidal per its AI Policy which aims to promote "fairness and economic empowerment in the era of AI-Generated music." Also, as of May 2026, new rules for the Academy Awards protect actors, writers, and more against the rise of artificial intelligence, and the MPSE Golden Reel Awards rules state that the "use of Generative AI models to create entirely synthetic voices, music, or sound elements not derived from original production audio or licensed music is prohibited and will result in disqualification."
Even Facebook has a new pop down menu where you are supposed to label AI in your posts.
We still need to push for federal legislation that will protect the arts fairly from sea to sea, and this growing petition is becoming a loud cry for that.
Please continue to share this petition with your community and call your legislators. Posting to Facebook groups, Instagram stories, WhatsApp, or sending it directly via text or email all make a big difference. Thanks again for adding your voice!
With gratitude,
Jamie
