The leaders of the local Huron Valley Chapter of the Michigan Botanical Society, a native plant society for the Great Lakes region, have warned about the impact of the Campus Connector transit system on the Arboretum. Over 400 native plant species, including two considered Threatened or Endangered are located there. Having studied these plants since 1892, they note the great potential for impact of large machinery on sensitive habitat, and potential damage to some of the Arb's best natural features.
