The Save Our Seals campaign is pleased to inform you that, as of tonight, the online petition https://c.org/G954NJckKs calling for the protection of the Amchit Monk Seal Cave has surpassed 20,000 signatures… Twenty thousand voices rising in defense of one of the most important natural habitats of the endangered Mediterranean monk seal.
Lebanese citizens at home and abroad, together with activists and supporters from countries around the world, have united around a single demand: to safeguard this unique ecological site and stop any threat against it.
The numbers show that:
- More than one-third of signatures came from Lebanon 🇱🇧
- Another third from Mediterranean countries 🇪🇺🌊
- And the final third from supporters across North and South America, Asia, Africa, and even Pacific islands 🌎
Save Our Seals is no longer a local campaign… it has become an international outcry, affirming that harming the Amchit Cave is not an internal matter, but an attack on a global natural heritage that must be protected.
Therefore… protecting this site is no longer a choice, it is a duty. And we will continue defending it… until the very end. ✊🏽
⚠️ We place this petition in the hands of the Municipality of Amchit and the Ministries of Environment, Public Works & Transport, Tourism, Foreign Affairs, Culture, and Agriculture.
We call on all Lebanese citizens, and all people of the planet, to continue signing through the link above.
