At a time when calls continue to intensify for the protection of the #Amchit #MonkSeal #Cave and for holding those who violate environmental and urban planning laws accountable, it appears that the compass has shifted in the opposite direction.
Both Paul Abi Rached, President of TERRE Liban and environmental activist and engineer Farid Abi Younes, have been summoned to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ministry of Justice – Badaro, tomorrow, Monday, 17 November 2025, at 12:00 PM, over their involvement in the Save Our Seals campaign defending the cave.
Protecting the environment and stopping violations along the Lebanese coast is a national duty before being a civil initiative. The fact that activists are being summoned, instead of swiftly addressing the documented violations above the cave, raises legitimate questions among the public about the direction in which matters are heading.
Therefore, the Save Our Seals campaign calls on all citizens, activists, and media representatives to gather tomorrow, Monday, at 12:00 PM in front of the Ministry of Justice – Badaro, in support of Paul and Farid, and in defense of the Amchit Seal Cave and the right of all Lebanese to a healthy environment where the law is respected.
