This pictures shows the Abeille Flandre shortly after her final entry in the dry dock, before the dismantling begins. Part of her superstructure has already been cut-up.
In a matter of weeks, she will be emptied, torn apart, cut into pieces until there is nothing left.
This marks the failure of my attempt to save this brave little ship. I am responsible in the first place for failing to attract the necessary attention from either people or mass media.
I could also lament the lack of interest of the French general public in maritime heritage as a whole. Most of my critics will go against the Abeilles Internationales Group which seemed to prefer the Abeille Flandre destroyed rather than sailing under another owner.
It a shame to be forced to use the past tense when talking about the Abeille Flandre.
Thank you for your support anyway and stay healthy.
