💗 WE'VE REACHED 3,000 SIGNATURES - AND OUR CAMPAIGN IS GROWING!

3,103 signatures. Posters going up across our communities. And we're continuing to push for answers.
What an incredible weekend for Save St Helier Maternity!
We've officially passed 3,000 signatures, with 3,103 people now supporting our petition to protect maternity services at St Helier Hospital.
I want to say a huge thank you to every single person who has signed, shared, commented or helped spread the word.
What started as one concerned local resident speaking up is becoming a community-wide effort to ensure the future of our maternity services receives the attention it deserves.
📍 Our campaign is reaching more people
Over the weekend, we've started putting campaign posters up across the areas affected by the proposals.
It's important that local residents know what's being considered and have the opportunity to make their voices heard.
If you see one of our posters, please help us spread the word by sharing the petition with friends, family and neighbours.
🏥 Where things stand
We've now received written confirmation from NHS leadership that:
- No preferred option has been chosen and no decision has been made to relocate maternity services.
- Phased refurbishment at St Helier remains under consideration alongside temporary relocation.
- Further assessments, including workforce impacts and travel times, are still being finalised.
- The Board's decision on a preferred option has been postponed until early December.
- We've also received an invitation to meet with the Trust's Group Chief Executive, Mat Shaw, and are awaiting arrangements for that meeting.
📢 Our next priority: community engagement BEFORE a preferred option is selected
One of our biggest concerns remains the timing of community engagement.
The Trust has indicated that further engagement with local families and residents will take place once the Board has identified a preferred option.
We believe the community should have a meaningful opportunity to contribute before that happens.
Expectant parents, families, staff and local residents should be able to understand the proposals, ask questions and share their experiences while both options are still being assessed.
We will continue asking the Trust to hold a public engagement session at St Helier before selecting a preferred option, and to ensure that community feedback is considered as part of the decision-making process.
We recognise that patient safety must come first and that St Helier's infrastructure needs attention. Our campaign is about ensuring every safe and viable option for retaining maternity services is fully explored.
💗 THANK YOU FOR 3,103 SIGNATURES!
Every signature represents someone who wants the future of our local maternity services to be taken seriously.
Our next milestone is 3,500 signatures.
Please continue sharing this petition with family, friends, colleagues and local community groups.
And if you'd like to help distribute posters or raise awareness in your area, please get in touch through our campaign Instagram page, @savestheliermaternity.
I'll continue sharing updates as we receive further information from the NHS Trust and our local representatives.
Our community. Our maternity services. Our voices. 💗
