KEEP SHARING: WE'RE BEING HEARD, BUT WE MUST KEEP THE PRESSURE ON
Dear Supporters,
We want to extend our deepest thanks to each and every one of you who has signed, shared, and supported the petition for change within the Sutherland Shire Football Association. Together, we've shown that our community cares deeply about the future of our clubs, our players, and our kids who deserve the best possible environment to develop and thrive. Nearly 1,000 of you have spoken out, but we are not done yet.
Over the weekend, The Daily Telegraph ran an article featuring Laura Cowell, who unfortunately used her platform to focus on her own political agenda. What was most disappointing was her failure to address the actual state of the SSFA and the pressing issues facing the association. She ignored the voices of the many parents, players, and coaches who have been let down by the current leadership.
- Misappropriation of power when it comes to field access has yet to be explained.
- 1000 voices signed this petition, but Laura has made no effort to address how she will resolve these widespread concerns.
- Jeff Stewart’s reputation continues to deteriorate, with complaints from parents and coaches rising, and instead of progress, we're seeing support for the status quo, which only worsens the situation.
- Laura Cowell, as the elected President of the association, was expected to lead with integrity and to fix the broken systems.
Instead, she seems intent on protecting the few who are responsible for this decline in standards rather than listening to the many who are crying out for change.
This is not a personal attack—this is a fight for the future of football in the Sutherland Shire.
If Laura wants to be a leader, she should listen to the real concerns detailed in our petition, acknowledge the need for genuine change, and hold those responsible for these issues to account. This is about fairness, transparency, and the development of our young players, not political point-scoring.
But for us to be heard loud and clear, we must keep going.
We have momentum. We are being noticed. The more we share, the closer we get to ensuring real change. Please continue to share the petition far and wide. Reach out to your networks, your friends, your teammates, and your families. Let’s show that we won’t stop until we see accountability, fairness, and a brighter future for our kids and football community.
Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can make this change happen.
