Dear Sledge Forest Defenders,

As we enter the second year of this campaign, I'm writing with critical updates—and some exciting news to celebrate together.

🚨 NEW APPLICATION SUBMITTED: What You Need to Know
Copper Builders has submitted a revised application for Hilton Bluffs. Here's what matters:

  • NOTHING HAS BEEN APPROVED - Not the application, not the project, nothing. We're still in the fight.
  • A 4,085-home buildout is STILL on the table - While they're proposing 1,800 homes now, they have NOT ruled out the full development in future phases.
  • 1,800 homes is STILL too much - Our rural infrastructure, two-lane roads, schools, and emergency services cannot handle this density.
  • The zoning loophole remains - They continue to exploit the system by refusing to conform to RA zoning requirements or to protecting our community.

📅 MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Technical Review Committee Meeting
Tuesday, November 19 at 2:00 PM

The Technical Review Committee will meet virtually to review this new application. The public can listen in (but not comment). This is our chance to stay informed and understand what's being proposed - and to let the county know this issue is important to us and we are paying attention!

Email sign up to receive the call-in number and meeting agenda when it is released.

🎬 NOW FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL!

YOU'RE INVITED to the Premiere Screening of "The Last Forest"

📍 Wednesday, November 19 | 6:30 PM
📍 Satellite Bar & Lounge

Produced and directed by Boot Scrap, this 6-minute docushort tells the story of our community's fight to protect the last large forest in New Hanover County and why it's worth protecting. It's our story—YOUR story—and we can't wait to watch it with you.

Come connect with fellow supporters, celebrate how far we've come, and learn what's next.

We're Not Done Yet!
Two years in, and we're still here. Still organized. Still growing, at more than 13,000+ signatures strong (including over 1200 paper petition signers). Still fighting for what matters.

This isn't just about stopping a development—it's about defending our vision for our future. It's about protecting a forest ecosystem that can never be replaced. It's about standing up and saying that developer profits will never take precedent over our community, our environment, and the future we want for our families.

Sledge Forest is worth fighting for. Our community is worth fighting for. And together, we will protect both.

Stay tuned for further updates once we learn more at the November 19th meeting . Keep sharing this petition. Keep talking to your neighbors. Keep showing up.

With gratitude and determination,

The Save Sledge Forest Campaign

P.S. - Can't make the screening? After Nov. 19th, we'll share the video on our social media, and on our website and You Tube Channel.  Follow us on Instagram here
