To the Protectors of Sledge Forest, 

We have some exciting news! We have successfully retained legal counsel, marking a pivotal moment in our campaign. This crucial step forward means we are now equipped to take our cause to the next level, and we are absolutely energized by the possibilities ahead! However, to effectively pursue this legal avenue, we urgently require financial support to cover the necessary legal fees (including attorney fees, court costs, expert witnesses, etc.)

Legal battles, of course, require resources.  We’ve invested a $5,000 retainer to get started, have hired a highly qualified attorney, and now we’re reaching out to you, our dedicated community, to ask for your support in building our legal fund. Every contribution, no matter the size, will be instrumental in ensuring we can mount a strong and effective challenge. Your generosity will directly empower us to protect this irreplaceable natural treasure.

We also want to address a point of clarification regarding donations made through change.org. While change.org may present a donation prompt immediately following your petition signature ("Take the Next Step" button), please be aware that these funds are directed to change.org and do not directly benefit our campaign. We understand that many of you intended your past contribution to support our efforts, and we sincerely appreciate your generous spirit.
