Important Update – The Planning Application Is Now Live
Thank you so much to every single person who has signed this petition. With over 12,000 signatures both online and in person, the support for Skirlington Market has been overwhelming. It means more than we can say.

We now urgently need your help again.

A planning application has been submitted that would remove the entire Skirlington Market site with no replacement offered.
If this application is approved, the market may have to close after more than 40 years of serving local people, visitors, holidaymakers and small businesses.

Your objection could genuinely help protect the future of the market.

What You Can Say (in your own words)
Here are some planning points you may want to mention:

• Skirlington Market is a long-standing community facility used by local people every week.
• It is a major visitor attraction that is open to everyone, not just holidaymakers.
• Many families rely on the market for affordable shopping.
• The market brings thousands of visitors into the area and supports local shops, cafes and petrol stations.
• Removing the market would reduce tourism, visitor choice and economic activity in surrounding villages.
• The Local Plan aims to protect community facilities, rural jobs and the visitor economy.
• No alternative site or replacement has been offered.

Please make sure everything is written in your own words, as the council does not count duplicated text.

Thank You
Your support has been incredible.
Skirlington Market has been part of East Yorkshire life since 1985, and together we have a real chance to protect it.

If you can take a moment to submit an objection, it would mean so much to all the traders, staff and families who rely on the market and love it.

Thank you again for standing with us.
