Save the Shepherds Bush Market Businesses CampaignLondon, United Kingdom

Nov 11, 2017
Regrettably the Hammersmith & Fulham Council Planning Committee on the evening of Tuesday 7th November 2017 accepted the planning application 2017/03851/FUL of developer U+I Group Plc.
During the consultation period, 221 responses were received, of these 49 were comments in support and 172 were in objection to the application. An additional petition of objection of a further 92 signatories from the Shepherd’s Bush Market businesses was also submitted. Concerns were raised over the compromise of the linear character of the market, the drainage, the parking, the odours, the noise, and the waste removal.
It is the view of the Shepherd’s Bush Market traders' that this application causes severe prejudice to the Shepherd’s Bush Market community.
On Wednesday 8th November 2017, the Shepherd’s Bush Market Tenants’ Association received a letter from the developer U+I Group Plc. threatening to renege on agreements and proposals, which have been established over the past 14 months.
The behaviour of the developers is most unfortunate and the Shepherd’s Bush Market Tenants’ Association will persevere to protect the rights and livelihoods’ of the Shepherd’s Bush Market traders, despite recent events.
We thank the many people in and around London for their wonderful help and support. The persistent oppression on the innocent traders of Shepherd’s Bush Market is most upsetting, and the Shepherd’s Bush Market Tenants’ Association will seek legal assistance and funding to continue to endeavor to protect and cradle the long established unique and valued businesses of Shepherd’s Bush Market.
