Last Night at the City of Wanneroo Ordinary Council, with an hour and a half of statements and questions, and a public Gallery full of so many community members. Our Lake was Saved.

It came down to an Alternative Motion presented by Deputy Mayor Paul Miles, with Hugh Nguyen liaising with Paul to ensure there were some alterations made. CNR  Eman Serif also asked for some changes to be made.

The image attached is a great result.

There is always work to be done, and we will ensure that the Wanneroo Recreation Centre will have its upgrade and that a new Sporting Hub will be built in the right place to service the community without causing dismay in the Central Ward and its residents.

I am so proud of every person who has contributed their time and effort to such an important outcome for the Environment and future generations.

A precedent has been set, and this will continue with any project that is proposed next to any of Perth's beautiful natural waterways.

This is a great example of how people can come together peacefully, make themselves informed, ask questions, keep council administration accountable, help encourage others to keep informed of local issues, and how you can make a difference with this hard work. It was not easy, and we could have easily missed our window of opportunity, and this project could have been underway. But this was not the case.

Councillors are just one person, and in Wanneroo there are 14. This is why it is so important that the community contributes where they can, as we can see things from different perspectives, and together, each of us had different visions and ideas, but the same goal was clear, and the outcome was successful in saving the lakes edge from large-scale development.

I thank you all, and I can DECLARE VICTORY!

I will be updating people if they would like to know more via our Facebook Page. If you don't have this, please leave your email address so that I can add you to a mailing list.
